Saturday, September 12, 2026, more than 5,500 cyclists are expected to ride from Vancouver to Whistler in the RBC GranFondo Whistler on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
Motorists should expect delays between Stanley Park, through the Lion's Gate, through West Vancouver and Squamish, to Whistler, from approximately 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Obey traffic-control personnel, be prepared to stop, and allow extra travel time. Roads will reopen progressively as riders pass.
Northbound and southbound access will remain available on Highway 99 throughout the day, although traffic patterns will change and speed limits will be reduced to 60 km/h on some sections between Vancouver and Whistler.

Due to construction on Cypress Bowl Road, Forte riders will travel up Callaghan Valley Road instead of Cypress Mountain.
Riders will turn left from Highway 99 onto Callaghan Valley Road, then turn right to rejoin northbound Highway 99. Motorists must use extra caution at this controlled intersection and follow the directions of traffic-control personnel and RCMP.
Callaghan Valley Road will be closed to vehicle traffic during the event, between 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Northbound and Southbound motorists should expect delays between Callaghan Valley Road and Whistler Village from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Stanley Park Causeway and Lions Gate Bridge
Closed to northbound traffic from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. One southbound lane will remain open.
Motorists should use the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing.
Stanley Park Drive
Access from Georgia Street will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
North Vancouver — Marine Drive
Westbound Marine Drive will be reduced to one lane between Capilano Road and Taylor Way from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Southbound access to the Lions Gate Bridge will remain available from West Vancouver via eastbound Marine Drive.
West Vancouver — Marine Drive and Taylor Way
Access to Taylor Way will be restricted intermittently from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Highway 1 — Taylor Way to Horseshoe Bay
Both eastbound lanes will be closed from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Motorists should use eastbound Marine Drive.
Highway 1 Westbound at Exit 2 — Horseshoe Bay
Westbound Highway 1 and northbound Highway 99 traffic will be rerouted via Exit 2 to Old Highway 99, also known as Horseshoe Bay Drive, and will re-enter northbound Highway 99 at Pasco Road.
The detour will be in effect from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Ferry and Local Horseshoe Bay Traffic
Traffic leaving Horseshoe Bay will be rerouted to Marine Drive through West Vancouver from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Heavy-Truck Restrictions
Eastbound heavy trucks travelling between Horseshoe Bay, Taylor Way, and southbound Highway 99 will be redirected to a temporary holding area in Horseshoe Bay from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Heavy trucks will not be permitted on Marine Drive through West Vancouver during this period and may re-enter Highway 1 after the eastbound lanes reopen.
Highway 99 Southbound at Pasco Road
Southbound traffic will be rerouted at Pasco Road via Horseshoe Bay Drive to Marine Drive from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Highway 99 — Horseshoe Bay to Tunnel Point
Counterflow traffic will be in effect next to cyclists. One lane in each direction will remain available, leading to 2.6 kilometres of single-lane alternating traffic from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Porteau Cove Provincial Park
Counterflow traffic will be in effect next to cyclists, with one lane in each direction. This will lead to 1.3 kilometres of single-lane alternating traffic from 7:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Furry Creek
Local traffic will be rerouted through internal roads to access northbound and southbound Highway 99 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Britannia Beach
Single-lane alternating traffic will be in effect for approximately one kilometre from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Murrin Lake Park to Squamish
Traffic signals will be placed in flashing mode, with traffic-control personnel on site.
Cleveland Avenue and Loggers Lane
Traffic signals will be flashing. There will be no access to Loggers Lane from Highway 99 at Cleveland Avenue or Industrial Way.
Motorists should use the Centennial Way underpass to reach Loggers Lane.
Restrictions will be in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Valley Drive to Depot Road
Traffic signals will be flashing, and movements to and from the east side of Highway 99 will be restricted or closed.

Alice Lake Road to Function Junction
Counterflow traffic will be in effect between Alice Lake Road and Function Junction, approximately six kilometres south of Whistler.
Cyclists will use the northbound slow lane. One lane in each direction will remain available to motorists from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Function Junction to Village Gate Boulevard
Traffic signals will be flashing, and traffic will be stopped intermittently at entrances and exits serving key Whistler destinations.
Expect significant delays when entering or exiting destinations on the east side of Highway 99 between 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Highway 99 Southbound — Village Gate Boulevard to Callaghan Valley Road
Traffic signals will be flashing. Traffic will be delayed from 8:55 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for the neutralized lead-out. There will not be a full highway closure.
Callaghan Valley Road and Highway 99
Forte riders will turn left from Highway 99 onto Callaghan Valley Road and later turn right to rejoin northbound Highway 99.

Alta Lake Road will be available as an alternate route to Highway 99.
Whistler Cross-Street Intersections
Only commercial vehicles weighing less than 40,000 kilograms GVW and no longer than 20 metres will be permitted to travel through the RBC GranFondo Whistler route on September 12, 2026.
Vehicles will not be permitted into Stanley Park on the morning of September 12.
Drivers dropping off riders should stop only in a safe and legal location on West Georgia Street. The paid parking lot at Denman Street and Bayshore Drive may also be used for a brief drop-off.
Anyone leaving a vehicle in the lot must pay the applicable parking fee.
